In week eight, we discussed the power of activism through protesting. This both encompassed political/social protest, as well as protest through historic propaganda and cinematic techniques like Montage.
In week seven, we visited the Photographers’ Gallery near Oxford Circus and the Barbican Centre to view a series of exhibitions, each displayed very different forms of activism through a variety of different platforms.
In week six, we received a guest lecture from Ghislaine Boddington of Body>Data>Space, opening up the conversation asking whether we own our body data or not.
In week five, we completed a creative workshop, helping us to understand and put into practice important elements that are used in a manifesto.
In week four, we look at the use of virality as a form of digital activism through social media algorithms and hashtags.
In week three, we discuss different types of creative activism, such as détournement and the resistance of postmodern art revolutions.
In week two, we discuss what Framing is in terms of its prevalence in the Media, as well as the issues associated with it.
In week one of the module, we discuss what digital activism is by definition, modes of raising awareness, political dialectics and how trends can be used as tools.
